Ivy Lodge Care Home provides residential care for older people in Haxby, York, alongside short-term respite care. Care is personalised around each resident’s individual needs, routines and preferences, with support designed to promote independence, dignity and choice.

No. Ivy Lodge is a residential care home and does not provide nursing care. Where residents require support from healthcare professionals, the home works alongside appropriate external services to help residents access the healthcare they need.

Before moving to Ivy Lodge, we take time to understand each resident’s care needs, routines, interests and preferences. A personalised care plan helps our team get to know the individual and understand what is important to them from the beginning. Family involvement is welcomed, helping to make the transition into the home as comfortable as possible.

Residents can enjoy a varied programme of activities and entertainment, including arts and crafts, cookery, flower arranging, quizzes, bingo, dominoes, Scrabble and gentle exercise. Music is particularly popular, with singing, dancing and musical entertainment regularly enjoyed by residents and team members. Film afternoons, celebrations and occasional trips add further variety.

Activities are always optional and residents are supported to choose how they would like to spend their time.

Yes. Choice and independence are an important part of life at Ivy Lodge. Residents can decide whether they would like to join an activity, spend time with others, enjoy the garden, welcome visitors or relax in their own room. Our team supports each person to maintain their preferred routines wherever possible.

Meals at Ivy Lodge are freshly prepared, with an emphasis on traditional cooking, home baking and seasonal produce. Residents have a choice of meals, including a vegetarian option, and individual preferences, dislikes, food intolerances and dietary requirements can be catered for.

Residents can enjoy meals in the dining room or choose to eat in their own room if they prefer.

Ivy Lodge is a smaller care home in Haxby, York, with accommodation for up to 33 residents. The home has 33 individual bedrooms, 28 with en-suite facilities, with some rooms also benefiting from their own private patio.

Residents can also enjoy comfortable communal spaces, including two sitting rooms, a separate TV room, dining room, hairdressing space and mature gardens.

Yes. Ivy Lodge is wheelchair accessible and has a lift providing access between floors. This helps residents with different levels of mobility move comfortably around the home and access its communal spaces.

Yes. Residents are encouraged to make their bedroom feel personal and familiar by bringing photographs, treasured belongings and other items that are important to them.

Yes. Pets are welcome to visit Ivy Lodge, recognising the companionship and enjoyment they can bring to residents.

Yes. Family and friends are warmly welcomed at Ivy Lodge, and the home does not operate fixed visiting hours. We value the important role loved ones continue to play in residents’ lives and encourage families to remain involved.

Yes. Trained care staff are available 24 hours a day to provide residents with personal care, assistance and reassurance whenever support is needed.

Yes. Ivy Lodge offers short-term respite care for older people who require additional support for a temporary period. A respite stay may be helpful following an illness or hospital stay, when a family member or regular carer needs a break, or for someone considering residential care who would like to experience life at Ivy Lodge.

Every resident has a personalised care plan based around their individual needs, routines, preferences and interests. Our team takes time to get to know each person and care plans are reviewed as needs change, helping us provide support that continues to reflect the individual.

We recognise how important good communication is for families. Where appropriate, our team keeps relatives informed about their loved one’s wellbeing and any changes to their care needs, while encouraging families to remain involved in life at Ivy Lodge.

Ivy Lodge works with GPs and other healthcare professionals to support residents with their ongoing health needs. Where additional healthcare or specialist input is required, our team can work alongside the appropriate professionals to help residents access the support they need.

Yes. Ivy Lodge has a mature garden that wraps around the home and can be enjoyed from many of the bedrooms. In warmer weather, residents can spend time outside relaxing, enjoying refreshments or taking part in activities.

Yes. Ivy Lodge is situated within a quiet residential area of Haxby, with local shops, amenities and public transport nearby. Its location also provides convenient access to York and the surrounding area.
